Social skills for effective management and leadership.

Managers need social skills that empower direct reports to feel heard and valued participants in the production process. These include empathy, rapport, communication, and understanding of group dynamics. In return, their direct reports will spontaneously and creatively offer their skills and resources to navigate progressively complex and uncertain business environments. My workshop "Management and Leadership" teaches managers how to do this.

A group of people in a job meeting

Managers and employees constitute a living cell

Managers confront environments with rapid technological developments where they need to interpret vast amounts of data and coordinate teams of people with different cultural backgrounds dispersed over a vast geographic area, among other pressures.

But the strength of a manager does not come from managing all aspects of the production process but by selecting capable people that feel invited to contribute with their expertise, connections, and skills to the acquisition of the group's goals. Managers and employees form a complex system, with different roles but all fundamental to its proper working.

To be effective, the modern manager needs to hone a host of abilities that include the social skills that help their direct reports feel valued and respected; and the ability to help the team navigate uncertainty with adaptability, empathy, creative thinking for group problem-solving, persuasion, handling group dynamics, and building solid relationships. This effort will bond the group and help it act like an efficient unit.

My workshop will train your managers to understand and deploy these skills effectively in the shaping and managing of their teams.
